Play Therapy (CERT)

UNC Charlotte offers a sequence of graduate counseling courses with an emphasis in play therapy. The goal of the program is to prepare students to work with children who are 10 years and younger in a developmentally appropriate way in both school counseling and community settings. The program is available for students who have completed a master’s degree in counseling, social work or psychology and want additional training in play therapy. In addition, students currently enrolled in the master's or doctoral program in the School of Social Work or in non-UNCC counseling programs may take the coursework required for the graduate certificate. The graduate certificate in Play Therapy will meet the post-master’s educational requirements, as specified by the Association for Play Therapy (APT) for the Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential.

Precision Metrology (CERT)

The Graduate Certificate in Precision Metrology provides graduate students and professionals with the opportunity to reach a demonstrated level of competence in dimensional metrology theory and application beyond the undergraduate level and bench experience. Students will be introduced to topics directly related to dimensional metrology and its application in industrial settings. These advanced course topics will, together, provide students with broader knowledge of the field of metrology and exposure to advanced techniques in dimensional measurement and analysis of data.

MPA students have the option to concentrate their studies in several specialized areas: Non-Profit Management, Urban Management and Policy, Arts Administration, Emergency Management and Public Finance.

As part of the Master of Public Administration program, the graduate certificate in Public Finance provides education and training for the public and nonprofit sectors, conducts scholarly and applied research to advance the field of public administration, and serves the community. Specialized training can be obtained in this certificate without having to pursue the MPA master's degree.

A Master of Public Health is a practice-oriented, interdisciplinary professional degree that will prepare you to make a positive impact on the health and wellness of people in your community and to people across the globe. The UNC Charlotte Master of Public Health (MPH) program is an in-person plan of study that prepares students to apply core principles of evidence-based, public health practice within a variety of professional settings; our graduates are competent members of the public health workforce. Our MPH curriculum is based on the collective needs, expectations, and requirements of regional and national public health partners, employers, and accreditation bodies. Our students develop specialized skills in 1 of 4 concentrations: Community Health Practice (CHPR), Epidemiology (EPID), Health Policy (HPOL), or Physical Activity and Nutrition (PANU). Admit Term: Fall (August) Deadline: January 10 The focus of the PhD in Public Health Sciences is to train researchers and professionals with skills essential to address contemporary public health problems at the individual, community and population levels. Drawing on the social-ecological framework, public health is an interdisciplinary field encompassing public health practice in the community; scientific research utilizing theoretical perspectives from disciplines such as anthropology, economics, geography, gerontology, medicine, nursing, psychology and sociology. The PhD in Public Health Sciences is in the Behavioral Sciences Concentration with a focus on health behavior, health promotion, community health and engagement and strong research methodology.

Public Policy (Ph.D.)

The Ph.D. in Public Policy is an interdisciplinary program focusing on the study of policy development, implementation and evaluation. It stresses the development of skills, tools, and specialties, as well as a theoretical understanding of them, that contribute to our understanding of the structure of institutional systems and sub-systems and of how policy should be shaped within political environments.

Public Policy Research and Analysis (CERT)

The Graduate Certificate in Public Policy Research and Analysis provides students with a strong grounding in the processes through which public policies are designed, passed, implemented, and evaluated in conjunction with the training in quantitative and analytic skills necessary to carry out applied public policy research and analysis. The program requires the completion of 15 credit hours. The certificate must be completed within four years of admission, and students may apply credits earned towards a graduate degree program in conjunction with or after the certificate has been awarded.
