Nursing: Nurse Educator (MSN)

The Nurse Educator specialty prepares nurses for advanced practice as Nurse Educators in selected areas of expertise. Students declare a specialty in the application and develop a portfolio from their graduate work demonstrating their expertise. Graduates of this program are prepared for academic positions teaching nursing at the entry into practice or RN-BSN levels and meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements for Nurse Educators.  The program is taught online.

Optical Science and Engineering (MS)

The Master of Science in Optical Science and Engineering is an interdisciplinary program involving primarily five science and engineering departments and two centers (Departments of Physics and Optical Science, Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science; the Center for Optoelectronics and Optical Communications; and the Center for Precision Metrology). The Program educates scientists and engineers who will develop the next generation of optical technology.

Physics (applied) (MS)

The Applied Physics concentration is excellent preparation for those planning to continue their education through the Ph.D., either in physics or an engineering field, or for a career as an instructor in a two-year college. Students electing the thesis option will be well qualified for employment in industry or in a research laboratory. The Applied Optics concentration is designed for students intending to pursue a career in optics fields such as optoelectronics, optical communications, optical metrology, etc. This concentration would also be excellent preparation for those planning to continue their education through the Ph.D. in optics.

Psychology: Industrial/Organizational (MA)

The Master of Arts in Psychology: Industrial/Organizational is a nationally recognized master’s degree program in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology. It provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve the world of work from both an employee and organizational point of view. The program and its curriculum are built on five key foundational elements: Leadership, Organizational Change and Development, Talent, Culture/Climate and Analytics.

Public Administration (MPAD)

The Master of Public Administration provides education and training for the public and nonprofit sectors, conducts scholarly and applied research to advance the field of public administration, and serves the community. MPA students have the option to concentrate their studies in several specialized areas: Non-Profit Management, Urban Management and Policy, Arts Administration, Emergency Management and Public Finance.

Public Health (MPH)

A Master of Public Health (MPH) is a practice-oriented, interdisciplinary professional degree that will prepare you to make a positive impact on the health and wellness of people in your community and to people across the globe. The UNC Charlotte Master of Public Health program is an in-person program of study that prepares students to apply core principles of evidence-based, public health practice within a variety of professional settings; our graduates are competent members of the public health workforce. The MPH curriculum is based on the collective needs, expectations, and requirements of regional and national public health partners, employers and accreditation bodies. Our students develop specialized skills in 1 of 3 concentrations: Community Health Practice (CHPR), Epidemiology (EPID) or Physical Activity and Nutrition (PANU). NOTE: International students whose native language is not English will still be asked to submit either TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores as part of their application.

Reading Education (MED)

The Master of Education in Reading Education qualifies graduates for the North Carolina Advanced Standard Professional II teaching license in K-12 reading education. Relevant to all areas of the K-12 curriculum, this program is designed for classroom teachers and aspiring literacy specialists who are interested in improving instructional programs and practices that promote literacy among all learners.

Real Estate (MS)

By engaging faculty and resources from the Belk College of Business, the Center for Real Estate, the College of Architecture, the Department of Civil Engineering, and the Department of Geography, students will enjoy a robust educational environment that will provide them with the tools to meet the full spectrum of opportunities and challenges they will face in their professional real estate career. Students graduating from the Master of Science in Real Estate may qualify for positions such as development associates, underwriters, brokers, asset and property managers, acquisition specialists and financial analysts.


The Graduate School and the Graduate Admissions office in the Reese Building, Fifth Floor, is temporarily closed to allow contractors to complete some needed work in the space safely.
