Geography (MA)

The Master of Arts in Geography emphasizes the application of geographic skills, methods, and theory to problem solving in contemporary society. To this end, students are offered a solid foundation in research methods, problem formulation and solution, quantitative methods, computer applications and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Faculty and students are active in the community and students are encouraged to complete their programs with either funded or unfunded internships in the private or public sector.

Health Administration (MHA)

The CAHME-accredited UNC Charlotte Master of Health Administration (MHA) Program develops emerging healthcare leaders prepared to advance health equity. We pursue our mission through education, research, and service that: 1) Gives students the knowledge, skills, and values needed to lead dynamic health systems. 2) Creates knowledge needed to lead people and organizations providing health services. 3) Increases the diversity of health services leaders, with a special emphasis on individuals and groups historically underrepresented in graduate education. 4) Promotes the public's health. Our cohort based program offers 2-year (full-time intensive), 3-year (full-time) & 4-year (half-time) plans of study starting in the fall (or summer second half). Note - Spring admission is limited to early entry students. All other spring applications will be denied.

Health Informatics and Analytics (MS)

The UNC Charlotte Health Informatics and Analytics Program develops practitioners who bridge data sciences and analytics in support of optimal population health. It leverages its position within the university’s new School of Data Science and capitalizes on the strength of its parent colleges, Health and Human Services and Computing and Informatics, to prepare national and international students to advance the professional practice of health informatics through a thorough grounding in data science, system architecture, and health analytics. We provide qualified and motivated students from a variety of disciplines, levels of experience, and backgrounds – with a special emphasis on individuals and groups historically underrepresented in graduate education – the knowledge, skills, and abilities to become exemplary practitioners of and advocates for health informatics.

History (MA)

Within the three main geographic fields of the United States, Europe, and Latin America, the History Department has particular strengths in the history of: African Diaspora and African-Americans, from slavery to civil rights; Old and New South; War and Peace from the 16th century to the present; Business/Technology/Medicine/Environment and Urban History. A specialization in Public History, with a focus on new media, is also offered.

Information Technology (MS)

The Master of Science in Information Technology is designed to equip students with advanced skills and knowledge in the planning, design, implementation, testing and evaluation, deployment, maintenance and management of applications and systems that embody information and communication technologies for their proper functioning. These skills form necessary foundations for solving practical problems that arise in business, industrial, governmental and other organizations, as well as for pursuing doctoral studies in information technologies. Current areas of concentration include: Advanced Data and Knowledge Discovery, Design, Emerging Technologies, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Security and Privacy, Information Technology Management, Software Systems Design and Engineering, and Web Development.

Interdisciplinary Studies (MA)

The Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies is an interdisciplinary program where students have the flexibility to design individualized curricula around broad intellectual interests and research focuses. Students can take graduate courses in a wide variety of academic departments and across colleges to further their studies related to their particular topic. Students complete a final capstone project to demonstrate their knowledge and mastery of their particular area of study.

Kinesiology (MS)

The Master of Science in Kinesiology prepares graduate students to advance the fields of Kinesiology through evidenced-based patient care and translational research. The program emphasizes basic and clinical interdisciplinary education and research in areas of Kinesiology. The program has three concentrations that include a clinical (non-thesis), strength and conditioning (non-thesis) and applied physiology (thesis) degree option.

Learning, Design, and Technology (MED)

The Master of Education in Learning, Design and Technology (LDT) is designed for those who wish to hold instructional design and technology positions in the areas of K-12, higher education, corporate, government, military training and/or human performance improvement. The program offers three concentrations: School Specialist, Training and Development and Online Teaching and Learning. The program develops professionals who are grounded in learning, design and technology foundations, principles, theories, applications and current trends. This program provides opportunities for students to integrate various forms of technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences. The program is mapped onto standards from AECT, ISTE and NCDPI. The program is 100% online.

Management (MS)

The Master of Science in Management program is a full-time master's program delivered during the day that will provide business acumen to recent non-business undergraduates. This fast-track program delivers business fundamentals and develops graduates who are prepared to solve complex issues, evaluate and sell ideas and lead teams across a wide variety of functions and industries. Students will be exposed to the major functional areas of business including accounting, finance, marketing and management.

Mathematical Finance (MS)

UNC Charlotte’s Master of Science in Mathematical Finance is nationally ranked in the top 25 by both The Financial Engineer and QuantNet. The Mathematical Finance program is a recognized STEM program housed in the Belk College of Business, which prepares students to pursue interesting careers in finance developing in-depth skills in mathematics, finance and economics. Financial institutions, investment banks and commodities firms rely heavily on professionals with these skills to develop sophisticated mathematical models to identify, measure and manage risk. The Belk College of Business is accredited by AACSB International and is located in the second largest financial center in the U.S., providing students a world-class education with unique networking opportunities. Students in the Mathematical Finance Program engage in an integrated curriculum and select a concentration to tailor the program to their specific interests.
