Nursing: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (PCER)

The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner graduate certificate concentration offers nurses with an acute care/critical care clinical practice background the opportunity to provide advanced nursing care to acutely ill adults. These advanced practice registered nurses will be prepared to function as Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (AGACNP). Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners provide evidence-based care to acutely ill adults with urgent and emergent complex health issues and critically ill adults with life threatening, rapidly changing physiological and pathophysiological conditions. The program is implemented in partnership with the Atrium Health. Graduates with this concentration will be eligible to take the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Critical-Care Nurses Certification Corporation (AACN Certcorp) examination for Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners.

Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner across the Life Span (MSN)

The Family Nurse Practitioner Across the Lifespan concentration offer nurses the opportunity to provide primary care in family practice settings. FNPs provide care to individuals and families across the lifespan, promote wellness and disease prevention, meet tomorrow’s health care challenges and provide leadership in the delivery of quality health care. Upon graduation, individuals will be qualified to sit for exams leading to Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and/or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Family Nurse Practitioner Across the Lifespan graduates are prepared to work as primary care providers in (a) Primary Care Practices; (b) Community-based Clinics; (c) Public Health Departments; and (d) Rural/Urban Settings.

Nursing: Nurse Educator (CERT)

The graduate certificate in Nursing Education is designed to prepare nurses who have a BSN or MSN to become educational leaders in academic settings. This certificate consists of four courses for a total of twelve semester hours and can be completed within one calendar year. The Graduate Certificate provides students with the coursework needed to enhance the student's professional teaching skills.

Nursing: Nurse Educator (MSN)

The Nurse Educator specialty prepares nurses for advanced practice as Nurse Educators in selected areas of expertise. Students declare a specialty in the application and develop a portfolio from their graduate work demonstrating their expertise. Graduates of this program are prepared for academic positions teaching nursing at the entry into practice or RN-BSN levels and meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements for Nurse Educators.  The program is taught online.

Public Health (MPH)

A Master of Public Health is a practice-oriented, interdisciplinary professional degree that will prepare you to make a positive impact on the health and wellness of people in your community and to people across the globe. The UNC Charlotte Master of Public Health (MPH) program is an in-person plan of study that prepares students to apply core principles of evidence-based, public health practice within a variety of professional settings; our graduates are competent members of the public health workforce. Our MPH curriculum is based on the collective needs, expectations, and requirements of regional and national public health partners, employers, and accreditation bodies. Our students develop specialized skills in 1 of 4 concentrations: Community Health Practice (CHPR), Epidemiology (EPID), Health Policy (HPOL), or Physical Activity and Nutrition (PANU). Students are admitted into the Fall and Spring semesters. Public Health Sciences (Ph.D.)

Admit Term: Fall (August) Deadline: January 10 The focus of the PhD in Public Health Sciences is to train researchers and professionals with skills essential to address contemporary public health problems at the individual, community and population levels. Drawing on the social-ecological framework, public health is an interdisciplinary field encompassing public health practice in the community; scientific research utilizing theoretical perspectives from disciplines such as anthropology, economics, geography, gerontology, medicine, nursing, psychology and sociology. The PhD in Public Health Sciences is in the Behavioral Sciences Concentration with a focus on health behavior, health promotion, community health and engagement and strong research methodology.

Respiratory Care (MS)

The UNC Charlotte Master of Science in Respiratory Care (MSRC) program is a fully online program designed for practicing respiratory care professionals. The program prepares respiratory therapists to become leaders and consultants ready to advance the respiratory care profession through leadership and evidence-based practice. Students have the opportunity to pursue relevant topics that can be applied to current practice. The program provides graduates with additional knowledge, skills, and competencies that support advancement opportunities in clinical leadership, educational leadership, scholarship and research, and disease management.
