What has been your driving force for enrolling in your degree program?

I am pursuing a degree in Social Work. Social work is a flexible degree that enables me to become a mental health worker. I have enjoyed every act of mentorship in my life, and I see mental health work as a form of mentorship. You are helping someone grow into who they want to become. You are helping them understand themselves and are providing them with tools to address stressful situations they may encounter in the future.

Why did you choose UNC Charlotte over other universities?

Charlotte was responsive and honest. They rapidly responded to any questions I had, and the Director of the MSW program spoke honestly about the rigor of the program.

What has been the best part of your academic experience so far?

The diversity and mutual support within my cohort. My classmates always bring unique perspectives due to the diversity of their age, politics, race and life experiences. This diversity and the way that they share their perspectives has made the classroom a space of sincere and varied discussion.

How would you describe UNC Charlotte to someone considering a graduate program?

I would describe UNC Charlotte as a modern university with experienced professors who are eager to share their experiences to the advantage of their students.

What do you hope to accomplish this year in your role as an ambassador?

I hope to help prospective students make an informed decision about attending our university, and I hope that my work plays a role in attracting students who will positively impact our community.
