The Doctor of Nursing Practice is the terminal practice degree in Nursing. This degree builds upon the student's current knowledge of clinical practice. The program will prepare students to practice at the highest clinical level and provide leadership in our dynamic healthcare systems. Graduates of the program will be able to analyze systems of care and provide high level leadership to improve patient safety and quality of care and to implement evidence-based culturally competent care practices. The School of Nursing offers two concentrations: BSN to DNP: Nurse Anesthesia Across the Lifespan (Admits to: Summer; Location: On Campus; Deadline: Jun 10-Aug interviews, Sep 10-Nov interviews) We provide students with both the theory and clinical practice required to meet the educational requirements to take the national certifying examination upon graduation. The specialty in Nurse Anesthesia Across the Lifespan is offered in partnership with Atrium Health. Clinical experiences are offered at Atrium Health facilities in the Charlotte area. Post-Master’s DNP (Admits to: Fall; Location-Online; Deadline: Mar 1-priority, Aug 1-final) Our post-master's is designed to prepare health systems and organizational nursing leaders (non-APRNs) and advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) to lead nursing practice, organizations, and systems of care through the translation and application of evidence-based research into practice.

Early Childhood Mental Health (CERT)

Admits to: Fall, Summer Location: Online Recommendations: Three recommendation letters from persons knowledgeable of your interaction with children or youth. Applicants who are already enrolled in a graduate degree program in the School of Social Work or Department of Special Education and Child Development are not required to submit letters of recommendation. The School of Social Work and Department of Special Education and Child Development have created this joint online certificate program focusing on children (birth to five years of age) and their families. Among other skills, graduates of this Certificate will be able to promote awareness about the importance of early childhood mental health, explain the relationship of social, cognitive, and communication development in young children and help to facilitate positive social-communication skills between young children, parents and other caretakers in a variety of settings.

Elementary School Mathematics (CERT)

***This program is not accepting applications for 2024.*** The Elementary School Mathematics graduate certificate is an 18-hour web-based program that meets the requirements for the North Carolina Elementary School Mathematics Add-On License. Individuals applying to this graduate certificate must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and a valid teaching license in Elementary Education (Grades K-6).

The Master of Science in Engineering Management prepares professionals for careers in managing projects, programs, systems, and organizations. Industrial, research, consulting, and commercial firms now demand engineering managers with both cutting-edge technical competence and the management skills necessary to forge linkages with the systems and business sides of these organizations. The program of study is multidisciplinary, combining elements of advanced study in various engineering disciplines with studies in business, system operations and organizational behavior. Through a flexible curriculum and concentrations, the program enables concentration areas such as Energy Systems, Lean Six Sigma, Logistics and Supply Chains, and Systems Analytics.

The Graduate Certificate in Human Computer Interaction provides both knowledge and skills in the human-centered design of interfaces for software applications. Students are provided with a basic understanding of human-centered design methods, as well as practical experience with techniques for designing, prototyping, implementing, and evaluating user interfaces. The graduate certificate may act as a standalone graduate option for post-baccalaureate and post-master's students, or may be pursued concurrently with a related graduate degree program at UNC Charlotte. The 12 credit hours in the certificate program may be applied to the graduate programs in the Department of Software and Information Systems with approval of the department Graduate Program Director.

The graduate certificate in Information Security and Privacy provides professionals with an opportunity to advance their level of competence in the understanding, management and applications of cyber security and privacy technology. Coursework towards this graduate certificate can be used for credit towards the M.S. in Information Technology. However, its primary objective is to provide a well-defined target for students who want to advance their knowledge and skills in understanding and applying cyber security technology, but do not necessarily wish to complete all the requirements for the M.S. in Information Technology.

Language and Culture Studies: Translation and Interpreting Studies-Spanish and English (CERT)

Students in the certificate program study the history, theory, methodology and profession of translation and interpreting and work in the analysis of different types of written and oral discourse. Students become familiar with computer-assisted translation, sight translation, simultaneous and consecutive interpreting and develop advanced post-editing skills. Translating and interpreting is done in both directions of the language pair: Spanish and English.
