Q&A with Patricia
Why did you choose to attend UNC Charlotte for graduate school?
I was looking for a place where I could work closely with a diverse population, specifically the Hispanic LGBTQ+ community. Charlotte just seemed like the perfect place for that! Not to mention that the UNC Charlotte Counseling program is also widely recognized for training amazing counseling professionals.
How does a UNC Charlotte graduate degree prepare you for your future?
After obtaining my degree, I will be an associate counselor and eventually be a fully-licensed clinician. It has always been my goal to become licensed in counseling. I believe I am currently being trained effectively by my professors and supervisors to become exactly that!
What is your favorite thing about Charlotte’s location?
The fact that it has so many convenient grocery stores and shops around it! It has been such a life saver to have those places nearby, especially when transportation is limited for me. The light rail has also been super helpful to have closeby.
What’s your favorite graduate school memory so far?
Getting to know so many great people, some of whom have become my closest friends, and having the opportunity to explore Charlotte with them!
