What has been your driving force for enrolling in your degree program?

I am pursuing a masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. A program like this has been my dream since middle school. Wanting to serve others remains as my life goal continuously. This program is a direct route to my career goal, and I am learning many valuable lessons in it.

Why did you choose UNC Charlotte over other universities?

First, the campus is visually appealing and has great resources. It is also close to my hometown, and I can be around friends and family. The faculty within my graduate program impressed me as well.

What has been the best part of your academic experience so far?

Fostering connections with both faculty and students has boosted my academic experience so far.

How would you describe UNC Charlotte to prospective graduate students?

The professors, staff, and students are great to be around. They create an environment that makes you feel welcome, comfortable, and engaged in your work. The campus is not only beautiful but also offers valuable resources for both undergraduate and graduate students.

What are some of your favorite activities or places to visit in Charlotte beyond campus?

There is a big live music scene in the Charlotte area. Going to those shows is a favorite activity of mine.

What advice would you give to someone considering applying to your program?

Being yourself and not being afraid to express can go a long way.
