48 Doctoral Students Receive Prestigious Graduate Student Summer Fellowship

This summer, an exceptional group of 48 doctoral students have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in their research, ultimately accelerating their path to degree completion and entry into their chosen careers. This groundbreaking initiative, the Graduate Summer Fellowship (GSSF), promises to transform the academic landscape for these emerging professionals.

UNC Charlotte Academic Affairs and the Graduate School fund this fellowship, enabling students to propel their research forward. The GSSF encourages students to utilize the three summer months to dedicate significant effort to their research– thereby making timely progress toward their degree. The competitive program is open to all doctoral students who have completed their milestones, including both new and returning applicants, who do not hold a teaching or research assistant position in the summer.

Following a thorough faculty review, the committee successfully selected and funded 48 candidates from a pool of over 100 applicants. These professionals are now embarking on research spanning a remarkable range of fields and specialties, promising advancements that will impact our communities. Among their innovative projects are:
